Beyond Perfection: Natisha Duffy Talks Balance, Strength, and Aging with Confidence

Interviewer: Your philosophy centers around balance instead of perfection. Why is that such an important message for women today?

Natisha Duffy: “Because perfection isn’t real—and chasing it drains people. What is real is balance. When women reach their 40s and beyond, their priorities shift, and their time becomes limited. I teach them that taking control of their health doesn’t require perfection; it requires consistency, prioritizing themselves, and making strength training part of their lifestyle.”

Interviewer: You’ve been in the fitness field for three decades. For readers who may not know you, who is Natisha Duffy behind the reputation?

Duffy: “I’m a kinesiology graduate from the University of Calgary who’s spent 30 years immersed in fitness. I’ve competed in bodybuilding, participated in Tough Mudder and Spartan races, and taken on marathons. I’ve trained celebrities like Tate McRae, high-performance athletes, and even Sheldon Kennedy—who I prepared for Battle of the Blades, where he outperformed competitors half his age.

But more than the achievements, I’m a coach who believes in honesty. I tell women the truth—even when it’s not what they want to hear. That honesty is what transforms them.”

Interviewer: Let’s talk about your Train with Tish programs. What makes them stand out?

Duffy: “These programs are specifically tailored for women over 40 who want to reclaim their strength. They’re personalized, distraction-free, and completely based on each woman’s goals, available time, and training environment.

What I want for them is simple:

  • To feel strong in their bodies
  • To feel proud of how they age
  • To feel grounded and confident in their daily lives

There’s no community pressure, no comparison. Just focused training that makes women feel genuinely good.”

Interviewer: Many women experience a drop in confidence as they get older. How do you address that through your training approach?

Duffy: “Aging comes with changes, but it also comes with a tremendous amount of power. Strength training helps women reconnect with that power. It improves mobility, boosts energy, and makes them feel capable again.

My goal is always to help women feel happy with themselves—how they move, how they age, and how they show up in the world. If they can do that, they’ve already won.”

Interviewer:

What motivates you at this point in your career?

Duffy:
“I’m passionate about helping women build a lifestyle, not just chase quick results. And I’m equally committed to educating future trainers. I want the next generation of coaches to be equipped, confident, and grounded in integrity.”
